Martial arts is something almost anybody can do, at any age and any fitness level. Whether you want to defend yourself, lose weight, or just have fun, our classes have something to offer. Here are the questions we get asked the most.
Claim our 14-day trial for $14. It is the simplest, lowest-pressure way to find out whether we are the right fit for you or your child. We will get you booked into a class that matches your age and goals, and you will have two full weeks to decide.
We offer a variety of programs to suit your needs. Gracie Humaita Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Self-Defense, Krav Maga, and Clinch Dirty Boxing, along with dedicated programs for kids, teens, and adults. Whether you want self-defense standing up or on the ground, we have a program for you.
None at all. The vast majority of our students walk in with zero martial arts experience. Every program is built to welcome complete beginners, and you will train at your own pace alongside people who started exactly where you are.
Comfortable workout clothes and water. You do not need a gi, gloves, or any gear to get started. We will tell you when it makes sense to invest in equipment and help you get the right thing.
When you join a program, you will get a starter pack that covers roughly the first twelve months. For Krav Maga, that includes academy pants, academy shirt, mouthpiece, handwraps, and gloves. For Jiu-Jitsu, you will need a gi, and we will help you choose one.
Most of our students train twice a week, and that is enough to make real progress. There are options to train more if you want to. The more you train, the faster you improve, and we will find a schedule that fits your life and your budget.

Our Gracie Ninjas program starts at age 4. Gracie Kids runs from 7 to 12, and Gracie Teens covers 13 to 17. If your child is close to an age cutoff, come talk to us and we will help you figure out where they fit best.
Yes, and it is the most common thing parents tell us they notice. Showing up, following instructions, being a good training partner, and pushing through frustration are all trained skills. Repeated on the mat, they quietly become character, and they show up at home and at school.
Yes, and that is the specific reason we teach Jiu-Jitsu to kids. Because it relies on leverage and technique instead of size and strength, a smaller child can genuinely control a bigger one. It is the most practical self-defense a kid can learn.
Then you are in exactly the right place. Many of our youngest students start out hiding behind a parent. Our coaches are used to it, and building that first bit of confidence is precisely the point of the program.
Yes. Kids classes are closely supervised, age-appropriate, and built around control rather than aggression. Safety on our mat is non-negotiable.
Yes. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uses a belt and stripe system, and students train in a gi as they progress. Promotions here are earned on the mat, never handed out on a schedule.
Absolutely, and we want you to. Parents are welcome to watch every class.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, a self-defense system, and a fitness program all at once. It is widely considered the most practical and effective self-defense system in the world because it relies on leverage and technique rather than strength and size. That is what allows you to defend yourself against a much bigger, stronger attacker.
Yes. It is a great sport for everyone, including women and kids. It focuses on grappling and ground fighting, with the goal of reaching a position where you can force an attacker to submit. You do not need to be an athlete to start.
Absolutely. BJJ is an intense aerobic and anaerobic workout. Your flexibility, strength, cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and ability to burn fat all improve, and you never have to step on a treadmill to get there.
Yes. We are directly affiliated with the Gracie Humaita Association under Master Royler Gracie, so what you learn on our mat traces straight back to the roots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Yes, you will train in a gi as you progress, though you do not need one for your first classes. Comfortable clothes are fine to start.
After every single training session, without exception. It is a matter of respect for your training partners as much as hygiene.
Yes. BJJ uses a belt and stripe system, and rank here is earned through time on the mat and demonstrated skill, never through testing fees or a calendar.
Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed in Israel for their Defense Forces, and it is taught today in U.S. military and law enforcement branches. Because of its practical application and how quickly it can be learned, it is an outstanding system for all-around realistic self-defense.
MMA is built for a ring, with rules and a referee. Krav Maga assumes none of that exists. It combines the best of boxing, wrestling, judo, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai, but what truly sets it apart is weapons defense and multiple-attacker defense, which most systems ignore entirely.
Yes, and faster than in most systems. That is the entire design goal. You will learn useful, usable techniques from your very first class, built on your natural instincts rather than fighting against them.
Our Krav Maga classes are for teens and adults. Younger children are best served by our Gracie Ninjas and Gracie Kids programs, which teach age-appropriate self-defense.
Yes, and it is one of the reasons the system exists. Krav Maga is built around leverage, instinct, and targeting rather than size and strength, so it works for a smaller person against a larger attacker.
Sooner than you would expect. Because the techniques are instinctive and built to be recalled under stress, most students feel a genuine shift in confidence within their first few weeks.
Yes. Beyond our standard classes, we offer Krav Maga Accelerated for those who want to fast-track their progress, and Krav Maga Elite, an advanced small-group program. Both require a qualification call with Master Joe.
CDB is an MMA-style class that combines the best of Muay Thai kickboxing with clinch work and ground work. You get striking, close-range control, and ground fundamentals all in one session.
Yes. This is not a cardio class with a boxing theme. You will learn correct striking, clinch control, and ground fundamentals from coaches who train them for real. It builds your confidence, gets you in great shape, and makes you genuinely harder to hurt.
A gym class is designed to make you tired. Ours is designed to make you capable. The conditioning is a byproduct of learning something that actually works, which is also why our students keep showing up.
Not remotely. CDB is one of our most popular classes among women, and you will see that the moment you walk in.
Small enough that our coaches know your name and can correct your technique in the moment. That is the whole point of training here rather than at a big-box gym.
Training is progressive and always controlled. You will never be thrown into anything you are not ready for.
We offer programs ranging from month-to-month up to twelve months. Our normal path is the 14-day trial first, and then choosing the program that fits you. We are confident that after a couple of weeks of training you will be ready to commit, because real progress does take time.
Membership pricing depends on the program and the schedule that fits you. Visit our pricing page and we will text you our current membership pricing instantly, or call us at 480-360-5425 and we will give you a straight answer.

Yes. Private lessons are available across every program we teach, for kids, teens, and adults, and small group training lets you train with a friend or your family while sharing the cost. Private students typically progress far faster.
Absolutely, and many do. We have programs for every age from 4 up through adults, and Family Martial Arts is one of the best things that happens on our mat.
